Taking A Self Esteem Test

What is the purpose of a self esteem test? Supposedly, it is to measure the level of self esteem you have. On the Internet however, it is used by many as a marketing tool for their self-help programs, books, tapes and software.

Should you take a self esteem test? Yes, here is why. If you have to ask yourself that question, you have some type of feeling that your self worth needs improving. Take one of these tests online. Use your favorite search engine to search for "self esteem test" and you will receive many hits. Pick anyone that suits you. Personally, I'd make certain it was free -- no need to pay for something unless you have to.

Also, make sure that it is from a self help site, and not a site that is going to inundate your inbox with spam, you know all of those offers to purchase everything from self help books and tapes and software to things that you didn't even know existed. When you find a test on a website that you like, take it and see the results. Almost all of them will either give you an overview online and then ask for your email to send you a more detailed report. Worst case scenario, you will find out that you are not perfect. Best case, you will identify areas that you need to improve in.
How else is a self esteem test used?

There are life coaches that will use these. A life coach can be a wonderful thing if you can afford it. They look at how you run your life and help you identify and change the areas that are causing you the most trouble. A test is used to see what areas of your self worth are lacking. It gives your coach a good place to start work. Some therapists will also use them, for the same reasons as a life coach would. Also a therapist will look more closely at your answers. Their version may take a little longer and be more personal in nature.

Overall a self esteem test can be fun and informative. So why not take a few minutes and try one online?
